Lobsang Tsering
From Monastic to Modern Wellness I am a doctor of Chinese medicine and Tibetan medicine practitioner, and a former Tibetan Buddhist monk. My journey began in the monastery, where I spent many years devoted to study, practice, and teaching loving kindness. During that time, I had the profound privilege of sharing spiritual knowledge and sacred arts across the globe, including programs in Russia, Ukraine, and the Baltic nations. These experiences showed me that kindness and love are not limited to family and friends and strangers, too, can offer you loving kindness unconditionally. The Path of Compassion Transitioning from monastic life to family life did not change my mission: to share spiritual wisdom to alleviate emotional suffering with compassion and ancient practices. Serving as a Buddhist chaplain in a jail facility has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life, as was teaching "Art as Healing" at San Francisco State University. I also regularly give teachings and workshops on spirituality and wellness. In addition, my training in Tibetan and Chinese medicine allows me to support physical healing, enhancing my ability to address suffering in both body and mind |

Hor-me; External Warm Oil Therapy
Hor-me external therapy is a traditional Tibetan medical home-remedy widely used to treat conditions associated with insomnia, stress, depression, anxiety, exhaustion and rejuvenation. It is practiced with simple materials such as warm oil prepared with herbal ingredients. Because of its simplicity and effectiveness, Hor-me is often known as a “grandmother’s therapy” and has long been used in Tibetan households. It is especially beneficial for elders and for conditions such as stress, fatigue, insomnia, trauma, and menopausal symptoms, and it also serves as a recovery and rejuvenation therapy for patients healing from long-term illness. |

This self-care workshop introduces the foundational principles of Tibetan and Chinese Medicine to help participants understand their unique constitutional type and how it influences physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Through experiential learning, participants explore practical self-care guidance based on diet, lifestyle, and mindfulness practices tailored to their individual constitution. The class also includes an introduction to traditional diagnostic methods such as pulse reading, tongue observation, and urine analysis, offering insights into overall balance and health patterns. By deepening awareness of their body-mind constitution, participants gain tools to maintain harmony, prevent imbalance, and cultivate long-term resilience through time-honored holistic healing traditions. |

Tibetan Art as Healing; Sand Painting
Discover "meditation in motion." In this workshop, you will experience the ancient techniques of Tibetan sand painting, using contemporary mandala designs as a visual map to navigate your inner landscape. It is a unique creative process designed to quiet the mind, ground the spirit, and cultivate lasting patience through the sacred geometry of impermanence. Such a sacred art has tremendous healing power and I want to bring this sacred spiritual art into the lay community as a healing art with mindfulness meditation practice. |

Death and Dying: Tibetan Buddhist Perspective
This teaching explores the process of dying through the lens of Tibetan Buddhism, offering a compassionate and contemplative approach to understanding impermanence and end-of-life care. Rather than viewing death as a medical failure or something to fear, Tibetan Buddhist tradition regards it as a profound transition to next life and an opportunity for awareness, dignity, and inner peace. Participants are introduced to the Tibetan Buddhist understanding of the dissolution of the physical and mental elements, the stages of consciousness as death approaches, and the importance of maintaining calm, clarity, and compassion during this time. The session also highlights the role of mindfulness, prayer, and gentle presence in supporting both the dying individual and their loved ones. |
